Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid faced each other this Sunday for a Madrid derby which looked uncertain. And as was the case in three of the last four matches between the two teams, they ended in a draw (0-0, 12th day of La Liga).

In their last four trips to Rayo, Real Madrid have not won once. However, the Merengue tried and practically hit twice as many as their opponents. The problem is that they barely got on target (5 out of 21 shots).

In front of his cage, Augusto Batalla also responded, notably with three decisive saves, first against Vinicius Junior (22nd), then Jude Bellingham (55th), and finally Federico Valverde (69th). The Rayo players played their luck bravely, bringing maximum danger to each counter phase. But again without success.

Bad week for Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé therefore did not score but tried to offer solutions. It was he who focused on the dangerous actions in Bellingham. He thought he would get a penalty at the end of the match, but the referee didn’t flinch. At the final whistle, the score was the same as at kick-off (0-0).

Bad week for Real Madrid who conceded this draw in the league five days after their defeat at Liverpool in the Champions League (1-0). It is also an end to the series in La Liga since the Merengue remained on four victories in a row. If FC Barcelona wins this evening away against Celta Vigo, it will come within three points of the Madrilenians who are currently ahead of Villarreal by five points. As for Rayo Vallecano, it is twelfth.
