OL and PSG face each other this Sunday evening to close the 12e lifting of Ligue 1. At the break, the score is favorable to the Parisians (1-2); Warren Zaire-Emery (26e) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (33e) having found the fault when the young Afonso Moreira set the record straight for a time (30e).

At the origin of these two achievements of the visitors, the touch of Vitinha. A masterful opening first, and then a ball raked around the edge of the surface. Not without a possible foul on Tanner Tessman on this last action. Which is sure to cause controversy.

The deafening silence of VAR

The Lyonnais in any case strongly contested the goal of the aforementioned Georgian, indeed claiming a foul from the Portuguese prodigy on his American counterpart. Jorge Maciel, Paulo Fonseca’s deputy, himself received a yellow card on the spot. Mr. Bastien, the referee of the match, however, was not called by his assessors to view the images of this controversial episode.

Here once again remains the limit of the VAR tool. This goal action – at the very least confusing – a priori justified the use of video assistance. Vitinha appearing to hit the back of Tessman’s left leg well as he countered the ball to put Kvaratskhelia in position to score.

Les Gones’ frustration is all the greater at the end of this first act as Nicolas Tagliafico also suffered a very limited intervention from Lee Kang-in behind his back while he was launching a recovery in the open Parisian area. Here again, the video assistance will have remained silent.
