It became the usual summit clash in the Premier League, and this time it was a duel for second place in the standings. In this poster for the 11th day, there is a clear winner, Manchester City, who outclassed and crushed Liverpool (3-0), in a way that leaves nothing to complain about.

Despite a missed penalty in the 13th minute by Erling Haaland (his guilty sin), the Skyblues quickly took the lead thanks to their Norwegian cyborg, who came to place his head on a cross from Matheus Nunes (1-0, 27th).

Against the flow of play, Liverpool thought they would equalize through Virgil van Dijk, who came to place a victorious header from a corner (38th). But the Reds’ joy was short-lived as the goal was disallowed for offside by Andy Robertson, placed just in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma. And in the process, Nico Gonzalez confirmed his team’s domination by doubling the lead with a deflected shot, just before half-time (2-0, 45th+3).

Liverpool, champion in great danger

After returning from the locker room, Liverpool had the opportunity to reduce the gap through Cody Gakpo, who had barely entered the game (59th). But Jérémy Doku, untenable on his left wing, was rewarded for his efforts with a nice goal which put an end to the suspense (3-0, 63rd).

After a difficult season last year, Man City confirms its revival and is fully back in the title race, four points behind leader Arsenal. For Liverpool, on the other hand, the slight improvement perceived against Aston Villa (2-0) and Real Madrid (1-0) again gave way to the very insufficient. This is the fifth setback in six days for the reigning champions, whose crown is in great danger.
