After Villarreal’s victory against Espanyol and Real Madrid’s draw at Vallecano, FC Barcelona had no room for error in Vigo, which had not lost since September 28, for the 12th day of La Liga. For this meeting, Hansi Flick notably relaunched Robert Lewandowski in the starting XI, alongside Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford. Opposite, Borja Iglesias was lined up at the forefront of the attack, he who had not scored for a month and a half in La Liga.
After 10 minutes of play, Javier Alberola pointed to the penalty spot after a handball from Marcos Alonso in his area. A gift for Lewandowski who didn’t have to be asked to open the score and celebrate his return to the eleven in the most beautiful way (10th, 0-1). But the Catalans were surprised in the process with a lightning counter from Vigo and the equalizer from Carreira (11th, 1-1). The two teams went blow for blow, and Barcelona finally regained the advantage with a good cross from Rashford for Lewandowski’s double (37th, 1-2). An equalizer which, once again, did not destabilize Celta, who was able to bounce back thanks to Borja Iglesias (43rd, 2-2). But while the locals thought they had done the hardest part, Lamine Yamal took advantage of a poor intervention from Moriba to send a first-intention shot from the right and once again give the advantage to the Catalans (45th + 4, 2-3).
Barça comes back to within three points of Real
In the second half, FC Barcelona took matters into their own hands and generally dominated their subject (only 1 shot for Celta). Lewandowski, for his part, had a great night, as he scored a hat-trick after a great cross from Rashford placed on his head (73rd, 2-4). Barça then had a fairly quiet end to the match, but finished the match with ten men after the exclusion of Frenkie de Jong (90th + 4).
The duty is still accomplished for Barça, which returns to second place in the La Liga standings and is three points behind Real Madrid. Celta de Vigo falls for the first time in a month and a half and remains in the soft stomach, in 13th position.
