In recent months, discussions have intensified, not because of his performances on the field, but because of problems that have arisen off it.
FC Barcelona are reportedly increasingly concerned about Lamine Yamal’s actions off the field, with his lifestyle being called into question. And according to former Real Madrid player Iván Zamorano (via MD), the 18-year-old lacks class.
Yamal affair, FC Barcelona invited to take measures
“I would not recruit Lamine (for Real Madrid). He’s a crack player, but he doesn’t have the essence of a Real Madrid player. I would recruit Pedri, he is a phenomenon who excels without speaking. He’s humble, he speaks just the right things, and that’s the main thing. Lamine Yamal has neither the soul nor the essence of Real Madrid. FC Barcelona, yes; not here. It’s a different story, a completely different club. Real Madrid is a team of class and culture. The players must reflect this. »
FC Barcelona ordered to act in the Lamine Yamal affair
Zamorano’s comments follow alleged statements from Lamine Yamal, who allegedly accused Real Madrid of “stealing wins/points” from other teams. He urged FC Barcelona to take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
“I never heard Messi say we were stealing games, and yet he was the best player in the world. A 17-year-old who stands out so much for his words… I think we have to prove it on the pitch, and behind the scenes afterwards. FC Barcelona must put Lamine Yamal back on the right path. He will only become a great player under these conditions. The players who make history are of a different caliber. »
Lamine Yamal’s lifestyle has certainly attracted attention, but it’s easy to forget that he is only 18 years old. He’s still a teenager, and while he enjoys a large fan base and considerable influence, it’s not by choice.
