During an interview given to France Football, the 2022 world champion with Argentina admitted that his representatives had spoken with several clubs before his arrival in Spain, including Paris Saint-Germain and the Catalan club.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I see what is being said on the networks… In Spain, there is a lot of talk about me and Barcelona. When I signed for Atlético last year, we talked a lot about Paris. It’s true, there were discussions between the leaders of PSG and my agent, they showed an interest in recruiting me, but it didn’t happen. At the moment I’m focused on Atlético.
