While Tottenham and Manchester United missed the opportunity to take second place in the Premier League, Sunderland (5th) had the opportunity to move up to runners-up this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. But Régis Le Bris’ men had a lot to do as they hosted the leader, Arsenal, and their impregnable defense (3 goals conceded). In a City of Light committed to the cause of Black Catswe had to wait until the 36th minute and Daniel Ballard’s powerful strike to see the locals gain the upper hand on the scoreboard. At the end of the first half, Arsenal had only shot on goal twice, without these attempts being on target.

In the second half, Sunderland lost its luster and multiplied technical errors, like that of Enzo Le Fée, which led to the equalization of the Gunners signed Bukayo Saka, after a left control-right strike sequence (54th). The attacks then increased on Robin Roefs’ cage, including a recovery from Eze (61st) and the bar following the attempt by Zubimendi (65th). Finally, the light came from a cannon shot in the top corner from Leandro Trossard to allow Arsenal to overturn the match (74th). Sunderland had the opportunity to get back into the game, after a great cross from Hume for Renildo, but the ex-Lille player missed his control in the area (85th). But it was only a postponement for the Black Catsreturned to the score thanks to a superb acrobatic gesture from Brian Brobbey in the last minutes of added time (90th + 4). In the process, Merino had the match point after a delivery from Calafiori, but Ballard was there to block the ball (90th + 7). Arsenal, who long believed they would achieve a 9th victory in the PL this season, therefore leaves with a point from Sunderland (2-2). THE Gunners are provisionally seven points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who host Liverpool on Sunday. They will host Tottenham after the break in a North London Derby which promises to be electric. As for Sunderland, this draw against the leader once again confirms the very good start to the season for Nordi Mukiele’s teammates. The promoted is 3rd, before the end of this 11th day.
