A historic Manchester United record remains intact. For 88 years, the Red Devils have fielded at least one player from their training center in each group called for an official match. This weekend, this tradition was preserved thanks to the presence on the bench of Jack Fletcher, a young 18-year-old midfielder, during the draw at Tottenham (2-2). The Englishman was called up to replace Kobbie Mainoo (20 years old) but did not come into play.
Son of former Mancunian midfielder Darren Fletcher (342 games, 24 goals), now U18 coach, Jack joined United in 2023 with his twin brother Tyler, from the Manchester City academy. An English U19 international, he has not yet played a match with the first team, but has already appeared on the bench several times last season.
