New figures for Ligue 1+! After a successful launch this summer, the LFP channel continues to see its number of subscribers grow.
According to L’Equipe, 1.08 million people had an active subscription to Ligue 1+ at the end of September. This is 130,000 more than the previous month, and it is already very close to the objectives set by LFP Media.
For the new Ligue 1 broadcaster, the goal was to reach 1.15 million subscribers at the end of its first year of activity. We can estimate that Ligue 1+ is on the right track from this point of view.
Ligue 1+, it’s far from being done
On the other hand, there is still a way to go for total success on all levels. As it stands, these figures only generate fairly low income for the clubs. This is why Nicolas De Tavernost, the boss of LFP Media, mentioned the objective of 2.25 million subscribers for Ligue 1+ at the end of the fourth season, i.e. in 2029.
It will therefore be necessary to double the number of subscribers, while prices must increase significantly at the end of the season. The main prospect for improvement lies in a distribution agreement with Canal+, but will that be enough?
