OM-Atalanta, false scandal on arrival?

Depending on which camp you are in, the perception of a possible refereeing error can vary significantly.

Two days after Atalanta Bergamo’s victory at the Orange Vélodrome (0-1), during the fourth day of the league phase of the Champions League, Ederson’s hand in the Olympique de Marseille penalty area continues to cause controversy.

In France, many journalists and sports consultants cried foul, even if Grégory Schneider tried to minimize what appears to be a clear refereeing error. Ultimately, the latter’s point of view is closer to those of his Italian colleagues.

“Ederson’s control was considered imprecise, which unintentionally caused a fortuitous bounce off his hand. The Brazilian does it alone and does not oppose an opponent, which is why the referee decided to let the game continue,” can we read in the transalpine media
Sky Italia.

OM-Atalanta, clear opinions on arbitration

The OM players obviously do not have the same opinion.
“There is a real disappointment against Atalanta, we cannot change it, we move on. There was a penalty but we have to take responsibility because we didn’t have a very good match.” declared Timothy Weah this Friday afternoon at a press conference.

The Marseille club will quickly have the opportunity to turn the page and, above all, to get back into working order. Indeed, from this Saturday at 5 p.m., the Marseillais will welcome Stade Brestois to the Vélodrome stadium, during the twelfth day of Ligue 1.
