Jorge Mendes, Lamine Yamal’s agent, spoke about the media noise surrounding the 18-year-old in an interview with Mundo Deportivo : “I don’t understand all this fuss around Lamine Yamal. We were all young at 18. As President Laporta said, we must support and help him as much as possible, because he is a valuable asset for the club. Lamine is the player everyone is talking about; he is unanimously recognized as a great player, both for the present and the future. » Mendes emphasizes that the young La Roja striker is focused on his work: “Lamine knows perfectly well what he has to do on and off the field, and that is exactly what he does: concentrate on his work in silence and speak little. He is a very bright boy who learns every day. Talking little and focusing on work is essential. »

The Portuguese agent also discusses Yamal’s talent and potential: “Lamine’s greatest asset is letting his game speak on the pitch; he does it like no other, as we saw in the match against Club Brugge. In every match, he produces at least one masterpiece, something only a player destined for the greatest heights can accomplish. » Mendes concludes by discussing role models for the young player: “Lamine is unique; you shouldn’t compare him to anyone, as he always says. But it is obvious that players like Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are role models for everyone, due to their professionalism and exceptional performances. Iniesta was another great example for young players. Lamine must continue to improve to become the best player for the next two decades, not just the best for four or five years. »
