During the last Clásico against FC Barcelona, won by Real Madrid (2-1), Vinicius Junior lost his cool. Replaced during the match, the Brazilian visibly took his exit badly and, upon returning to the locker room, said a few words to his coach which attracted attention. “I’m leaving the team, I’m leaving, I prefer to leave”he shouted to the bench.
A few minutes later, Vinicius returned to the bench under the supervision of the staff, after calls to order, notably from Xabi Alonso, had been addressed to him. The player then apologized on social networks, recognizing his excess anger and wishing to calm the situation for the rest of the season.
Thierry Henry, guest on the CBS Sports set during Liverpool-Real Madrid on Tuesday evening, returned to this episode. The former striker was understanding towards Vinicius:
“I’ve been there. I did it. I lost my temper in front of the referees. I lost my temper in front of my teammates. I lost my temper with myself. Sometimes for nothing, because, in reality, I played better when I was angry”.
