Retired from the field since 2005, Marcel Desailly left his mark on the history of French football. From his 116 caps for Blue (3 goals), the former central defender notably won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. He also won the Champions League twice, with OM and AC Milan, in 1993 and 1994.

Among the very best defenders in the world of his time, Marcel Desailly was invited by the X account OLBG to deliver his best eleven of all time. A team in which he believes he has his place in central defense alongside Sergio Ramos, with Achraf Hakimi on the right and Roberto Carlos on the left.

An eleven that is surprising to say the least, particularly given the fact that none of his former partners in the France team appear there. No Zinedine Zidane then, nor even his friend Didier Deschamps.

In the middle of the field, the former Milanese, now 57 years old, showed his preference for Paul Pogba, Edgar Davids and the 2024 Ballon d’Or Rodri. In attack, the native of Accra (Ghana) did not hesitate to do without one of the best players of all time, Lionel Messi. He opted for his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Maradona and Ronaldo the Brazilian.

Finally, Marcel Desailly entrusted the cage to former Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar. To train his team, the one who serves as a consultant for beIN Sports chose Carlo Ancelotti, whom he knew at Milan.
