The date and location of the African Ballon d’Or ceremony are now known.

After revealing the identity of the ten nominees for the 2025 African Ballon d’Or on October 22, the Confederation of African Football has finally decided on the date and location of the ceremony. The CAF Awards will take place in Morocco on November 19, just after the international break.

Many prizes will be awarded on this occasion. Such as the trophy for best African club of the year, the African national team of the year, the young African player of the year, the African coach of the year, the CAF interclub player of the year, the African goalkeeper of the year and especially the African player of the year.

For this supreme title, two favorites emerge quite clearly. They are Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah. The Moroccan side, 6e of the 2025 Ballon d’Or, is coming off an exceptional season with Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he notably won the Champions League. For his part, the Egyptian, 4e of the last Ballon d’Or, piled up the goals and was crowned champion of England with Liverpool.

Hakimi and Salah the big favorites

Hakimi and Salah will compete with Frank Anguissa (Naples), the Moroccan Oussama Lamlioui (RS Berkane), the Congolese Fiston Mayele (Pyramids), the Gabonese Denis Bouanga (LA FC), the Guinean Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), the Nigerian Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) as well as the Senegalese Iliman Ndiaye (Everton) and Pape Matar Sarr (Tottenham).

As a reminder, the African Ballon d’Or is based on a jury made up of CAF members, journalists, coaches, captains of member associations and representatives of clubs participating in the group stages of interclub competitions. For comparison, the France Football Ballon d’Or is awarded following a vote by 100 juries from the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings.
