The French women’s team is fixed on its future. Tuesday noon saw the draw for qualifications for the 2027 World Cup, and ex-Spanish international Virginia Torrecilla had a rather light hand with the Blues.
Placed in hat 1, like the three other semi-finalists of the League of Nations (Germany, Spain, Sweden), Laurent Bonadei’s players avoided the worst opponent in hat 2, European champion England.
Instead, it is the Netherlands, Poland and Ireland that Griedge Mbock’s teammates will face from next March, on the road to a Women’s World Cup which will take place in Brazil (from June 24 to July 25, 2027).
A “tough” group for the Blues
“It’s a tough group as for every Nations League draw. All chickens are necessarily balanced”analyzes the national coach on the Federation website, who has only one goal in mind: to finish first.
“Only first place will directly qualify for the World Cup. The ideal objective would obviously be to qualify without going through the play-offs but we know that the challenge will be demanding”explains Laurent Bonadei.
