The images are chilling. The Serbian D1 meeting between Mladost and FK Radnicki 1923 took a dramatic turn with the death, in the middle of a match, of the visitors’ coach.
The 44-year-old coach collapsed after 22 minutes of play, suffering from a heart attack. This former Bosnian international (2 caps) was immediately treated by emergency services before being taken to hospital.
The meeting had resumed, which may seem surprising given the context. And after about twenty minutes, the players of the
Radnicki 1923 learned of the death of their coach, which caused poignant scenes of heartbreak. The match was stopped permanently.
Serbian football in mourning
“The Serbian Football Federation learned with deep sadness and disbelief the news of the sudden death of Mladen Zizovic, coach of FK Radnicki 1923, which occurred during the Serbian Super League match between Mladost and Radnicki 1923 in Lucani. His premature departure represents an immense loss for the entire football community.
The Serbian Football Federation presents its deepest condolences to the Zizovic family, to the members of FK Radnicki 1923, as well as to all friends and admirers of his personality and work. Rest in peace, Mladen. Your love for football and the legacy you left will always be remembered. »
In office for only a few weeks, Mladen Zizovic was the father of two. All Balkan football is in mourning.
