D-1 before the Champions League clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. Leader of the Ligue 1 standings after its new victory against OGC Nice, the capital club – which has had to deal with a squad decimated by injuries since the restart – intends to continue its march forward, this Tuesday evening, on the lawn of the Parc des Princes. Opposed to the Bavarians, second in the league phase after three days and at the top of the Bundesliga standings, Luis Enrique’s men will however have a lot to do. Present at a press conference before this shock, Vitinha, third in the last Ballon d’Or, also targeted the strengths of this Munich team.

Parisians are expecting an XXL shock

“It will be like in the United States, a close match everywhere with one-on-one duels everywhere. Both teams want the ball all the time, it will be interesting. The match will be decided on small details like in the United States, it will be very intense. We can’t wait to play”first recognized the Portuguese midfielder, echoing the Parisian victory in the Club World Cup (2-0) last summer. Distrustful, the Parisian number 17 has, despite everything, reaffirmed the XXL ambitions of the reigning French and European champion. “It’s better to talk on the pitch than here, but yes, they are the two best teams in Europe. Bayern are in fantastic shape, we are in good shape too, building on last year’s momentum.”.

Determined to achieve the 4/4, the native of Vila das Aves (33 caps with Portugal), also had a word on the Rekordmeister’s number 1 offensive weapon: Harry Kane, author of 25 goals and 4 assists in 20 matches in all competitions since the start of the season. “He is one of the best players in the world. He has incredible numbers every season, he started this season in incredible fashion with stratospheric numbers. But Bayern is above all a team that defends and attacks together.. Succeeding his protĂ©gĂ©, Luis Enrique also confirmed the words of the former Porto midfielder… even if he was keen to point out that collective and personal distinctions are only made at the end of a season. “To find out who is the best team in Europe, you have to wait until the end of the season. We have to wait and see how many trophies the team wins. Right now they are very strong, they still are. We know the difficulty of the match, but we are ready”first recalled the former coach of La Roja, who expects to relive the same match as in Atlanta.

PSG is not going to change anything

“There will be situations similar to what we saw in the United States, with a lot of intensity and playing principles. It’s an attractive and motivating match for both teams. If we talk about the results, it’s incredible. We have difficulty winning three, four matches in a row. So if you think about 15… It’s incredible. But if we talk about tomorrow’s match at the Parc des Princes with our supporters, this atmosphere that we create each match, we have the confidence to try to improve our performance, to overcome their pressure,” he confided, before explaining that there is no point in trying to innovate to counter this kind of team. Because Luis Enrique warns: tomorrow, two teams with a very assertive style of play will face each other and neither of them will want to deny each other.

What result for the PSG-Bayern shock?

Image generation in progress

“It doesn’t change anything in our defensive and offensive behavior. If we talk about the three Champions League matches, they scored one goal less than us. I look for the positives. You have to ask their coach. (…) If I rely on the last match, it is obvious that this match will be very balanced. Bayern are not going to change the way they play, the same for us. We can overcome their pressure and hurt them, too. There are no big differences between us. Whoever has the most success in lethal zones, that’s where the difference will be made. These are two teams playing hard. I hope the fans have a good time. (…) Do you think I should evaluate our team? I think not. We deserve to have a little confidence. For us, it’s important to win tomorrow, not only for the three points, then because our group (the Spaniard mentions PSG’s schedule in C1, editor’s note) is the worst in the Champions League. But we want to be competitive, no matter the stadium, the opponent. All matches are important, but our group and our schedule are also intense and difficult. You have to earn points as soon as possible. We did that during the first three matches, we will look to do that tomorrow. » Bayern have been warned!
