“Charismatic actor (Nikita, the city of fear, GoldenEye, the Bear…), voice of the 120th anniversary of Stade Rennais FC, Breton by adoption, son-in-law of Raymond Kéruzoré, Tchéky Karyo died this Friday. The SRFC salutes his career and presents its condolences to Tchéky’s loved ones. Rest in peace Cheky! “. The Breton club had a big thought for the French actor who died Friday at the age of 72 following cancer.

Stade Rennais was Tchéky Karyo’s favorite club for three decades. The native of Istanbul (Baruh Djaki Karyo is his full name), who grew up in Paris, married in 1997 with Valérie Keruzoré, an actress (who notably played the role of Nessa in the series Kaamelott) who is the daughter of Raymond Keruzoré, legend of Breton football. The actor couple had two children together.

Raymond Keruzoré was simply voted the best Breton footballer in history by France Football in 2014.

Prodigy of Stade Rennais and Stade Lavallois

A playmaker revealed at Stade Rennais and passed through OM in 1973-1974 (to put Roger Magnusson and Josip Skoblar into orbit), “Kéru” experienced his prime with Stade Lavallois, a modest D1 team, being rewarded with the Etoile d’Or France Football in 1977. Keruzoré was a French international (2 selections from 1976 to 1978) but was never able to break through in the selection, far behind the legends Michel Platini and Alain Giresse.

Tchéky Karyo thus lent his voice to a video produced by the SRFC for its 120th anniversary, in 2021. “Like many kids of my time, a football club made me dream, this club is Stade Rennais. I, the little guy from Morbihan, formed a devouring passion with him that began very early, at the dawn of my 14th birthday. From then on, Stade Rennais remained in me, always”told this brilliant actor, who was exported to the United States in the 90s and 2000s (Bad Boys, GoldenEye,
The Patriot…).
