Yamal buys luxury real estate
Built in 2012, the property initially consisted of three separate buildings spanning 353 square meters, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a private tennis court and even a recording studio once used by Shakira herself. When Shakira and Pique announced their separation in 2022, the villa was quickly put up for sale at 14 million euros.
Despite international interest, it remained on the market for over two years. One of the smaller residences was eventually sold separately, bringing the total price down to €11 million, a head-turning sum. Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo previously claimed that Yamal had moved in and taken possession of the premises, apparently planning to settle in with his cousin and a close friend. The young star would also prepare major renovation work and invest a considerable amount to remodel the house according to her tastes and lifestyle.
A big expense after his breakup
It is reported to have six bedrooms and five bathrooms. The main house opens onto a vast living space bathed in light thanks to its bay windows offering a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean. The exterior features manicured lawns, a private poolside terrace and an elegant lounge area ideal for entertaining. It has been suggested that Yamal could transform Shakira’s old recording studio into a games room or private cinema. This move into one of the most emblematic properties in Catalonia comes just a few months after the signing, in May, of a pharaonic six-year contract with FC Barcelona.
This contract would earn him around 30 million euros per season, an astronomical sum for a player who is still a teenager. This places him among the highest-paid footballers in the world, with potential earnings reaching up to €180m (£157m) at the end of his contract. And that’s not all. Thanks to his growing global profile and a string of lucrative advertising deals, Forbes estimates that Yamal’s total annual income could reach $43 million (£32 million), enough to secure him a place among the sport’s financial elite, alongside Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jude Bellingham.
