The 2024-25 season will remain Alfie Whiteman’s last. After winning the one and only title of his career, the Europa League with Tottenham last May, the English goalkeeper chose to hang up his boots.
Whiteman’s sporting retirement may seem abrupt for the man who celebrated his 27th birthday in early October. But it can be explained in particular by the lack of playing time he faced, only 8 minutes in the first team during his entire adventure with Spurs.
An inner discomfort
According to The AthleticWhiteman initially did not plan to quit after leaving Tottenham for free. However, the lack of fulfillment finally convinced him to turn the page and explore a career change in photography.
