The match between Al-Nassr and Al Feiha turned into a scandal for some. Saturday, during the 7th day of the Saudi Pro League, Al-Nassr snatched a victory at the last minute against Al Feiha (2-1). Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates had all the difficulty in the world to win, and it was not until the last minutes that the difference was made thanks to a much-discussed penalty.
While the match seemed to end with a score of 1-1, the referee granted six minutes of added time before the match continued until the 105th minute, almost a quarter of an hour after the end of regulation time. It was during this period that Ronaldo converted the penalty, giving Al-Nassr a valuable victory, now leading the SPL table with 21 points.
Mahrez reacts to the penalty
This arbitration decision immediately ignited social networks. Riyad Mahrez, captain of Al-Ahli and direct competitor in the ranking (13 pts), did not fail to react. The Algerian posted a photo of the match on Snapchat, just before Ronaldo took the penalty, accompanied by laughing emojis and applause.
Other reactions were quick to multiply. Many Saudi Pro League players, including Ruben Neves and Malcom from Al-Hilal, did not hesitate to openly mock this decision deemed too favorable, multiplying ironic publications and sarcastic comments.
