Terrible drama at the Santiago Bernabéu. Last Sunday, Real Madrid hosted Barça in a high-tension Clasico, marked by several altercations between the two camps. If the Madrilenians finally won 2-1, the match was mourned by a tragic event: according to the Copea Real Madrid supporter suffered a cardiac arrest.
The media specifies that Igal Brodkin, a fervent supporter, died when Kylian Mbappé missed the penalty which could have sealed the 3-1. Several spectators then shouted to ask for the game to be stopped, and even goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois approached the referee to alert him. The match, however, continued without interruption.
He could not be resuscitated
The medical services at the Santiago Bernabéu immediately took care of the supporter before urgently transferring him to La Paz hospital. Despite their efforts, Igal Brodkin could not be revived and died a few hours later.
His son, Sean Brodkin, wanted to share his father’s love and passion for the club. “My father was a fervent supporter of Real Madrid. He passed on his passion for the club to the whole family; we were inseparable during every match”he said in a statement published by the supporters club.
