Paul Pogba’s long-awaited return to Monaco has once again been postponed.

The midfielder injured his ankle in training, just 24 hours before the scheduled date. The 32-year-old, who has not played competitively for more than two years, will therefore miss this weekend’s Ligue 1 match against Paris FC. His first appearance in the colors of Monaco is postponed beyond the international break in November.

Paul Pogba’s return postponed again

As anticipation grew around Pogba’s long-awaited return to the field, the Monegasque star suffered another hard blow. The 32-year-old injured his ankle during training on Thursday, ruling him out of Saturday’s Ligue 1 match against Paris FC. Monaco coach Sébastien Pocognoli raised hopes earlier this week by suggesting that Pogba could finally feature in the squad, potentially ending 26 months of absence from the professional field.

Pogba’s last match for Juventus was in September 2023, before he was suspended for doping. His suspension, initially for four years, was later reduced to 18 months. After arriving in Monaco in June, he has followed an intensive fitness program over the past three months to regain his fitness and rhythm after a long period of inactivity. His debut had already been postponed for the first time due to a slight injury before the match against Angers, and this new ankle injury further extends his wait before his first appearance in Ligue 1.

Monaco confirmed they are waiting for confirmation of the severity of the injury, but hope Pogba will only be out for two more weeks. “We are waiting for confirmation of the severity, but we hope that he will only miss two weeks,” Pocognoli told reporters. “ We are all disappointed “, he added, explaining that the team now hopes to have the Frenchman back in time for the home match against Rennes on November 22.
