Patrick Vieira will no longer be on the Genoa bench. After a night of reflection, the Ligurian club and the French coach decided by mutual agreement to end their collaboration, as revealed by Sky Sport. The leaders opted to anticipate the contractual termination before the crucial match against Sassuolo scheduled for Monday, initially seen as a litmus test for Vieira’s future. For this meeting, Domenico Criscito, current coach of the club’s U17 team, will act as interim coach on the Rossoblù bench.

In great difficulty since the start of the season, Genoa is bottom of Serie A with only three points in nine days, without the slightest victory and with the lowest offensive performance in the championship (four goals scored, like Parma). Several names are already circulating to succeed Vieira, including Daniele De Rossi, Paolo Vanoli and Luca Gotti. If the Criscito track for the future seems unlikely for the moment, it is not completely ruled out in the event of a convincing result and performance against Sassuolo.
