Harvey Elliott’s loan move to Aston Villa is not going as planned. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder plays little under Unai Emery. He has only made 5 appearances in all competitions since the start of the season (167 minutes of play, 1 goal) and that is starting to frustrate him. However, a purchase obligation of €40 million was slipped into the loan contract between Liverpool and the Villans. It becomes a real issue. The loan will become a definitive transfer after a certain number of matches played, recalls the Daily Mail in today’s edition.
Except that the situation is getting worse for Elliott, formerly in the group, but less and less of a replacement coming into play. He was not even called up during the success against Manchester City and should not be more so during the trip to Anfield next weekend. The player, who wanted to catch Thomas Tuchel’s eye and join his list for the 2026 World Cup, is failing and could return sooner than expected to Liverpool, where he is still under contract until 2027.
