OL is scuttling!

So many twists and turns in this second part of the 10th day of Ligue 1! After the poor performance of Paris Saint-Germain (1-1 against Lorient) but also Lens (2-0 defeat at Metz), the path to the top of the ranking was clear. An opportunity missed by Olympique Lyonnais against Paris FC, at the end of a completely crazy scenario.

The first hour of play, however, gave a glimpse of Lyon’s success. Notably the opening score for Les Gones (5th), thanks in part to a very good opening from goalkeeper Dominik Greif. Parisian defender Mamadou Mbow was unable to control captain Corentin Tolisso, who was moved to number nine. Upon returning from the locker room, rookie Pavel Sulc scored twice (51st, 58th), on two assists from Afonso Moreira. Paris could have foundered, but the double expulsions of Abner Vinicius (OL, 61st) as well as Thibault De Smet (PFC, 67th) completely reshuffled the cards. Trailing 0-3, Jean-Bouin’s team caught up between the 65th and 84th minutes in spectacular fashion. This is evidenced by the burst of pride of Adama Camara, scorer with an acrobatic recovery for the 1-3 in the 65th minute. Once co-leader, OL are now fifth with 19 points following this draw (3-3)…

…Which is good for Strasbourg, easy winner of Auxerre (3-0). Despite a late opening score from providential man Joaquin Panichelli (46th), his sixth goal in four league matches, only a quarter of an hour was enough for the meeting to become nothing more than a formality. Racing (19 pts) therefore doubles Lyon on goal difference and becomes fourth in the ranking.

Monaco new dolphin

At La Beaujoire, there’s no reason to get bored either between Nantes and AS Monaco. The early opening score of Coulibaly (6th), well helped by a Maghnes Akliouche twirling on his right wing, very quickly unbridled the meeting. Caught up fifteen minutes later via Bahereba Guirassy (19th) on a serve from Matthis Abline, the Monegasques did not tremble for very long.

Certainly, the two teams went blow for blow before the break, bringing the result to two goals everywhere. But piqued, Monaco did not let it happen. Maghnes Akliouche (55th), him again, then Aleksandr Golovin (75th, 90+4th) set the record straight, completing Sébastien Pocognoli’s new success in Ligue 1. Final victory 3-5, with the addition of a place as runner-up to PSG for the Principality club (20 pts).
