Euro 2012 was supposed to be that of redemption for the Blues. Two years after the immense fiasco of the World Cup in South Africa, the France team had to show a completely different face to reconcile with its supporters. The result was more than mixed.
From a sporting point of view, the adventure ended in the quarter-finals against Spain. But above all, the competition was marked by behavior that the leaders of French football hoped to no longer see.
The best illustration of this was obviously Samir Nasri, doubly guilty. A first time for his “Shut up”, index finger on the mouth, launched towards the press after his goal scored against England and then especially for his violent altercation with a journalist in the wake of the elimination against Spain.
Hatem Ben Arfa's rant
But the former Gunner was not the only one to slip up during this Euro. According to Alain Boghossian, deputy of Laurent Blanc, the same was true of another representative of the 87 generation: Hatem Ben Arfa. The latter would have clashed with the former defender of the France team after the defeat conceded against Sweden during the group stage.
“It went very badly. It was inside, in the locker rooms. Hatem did not appreciate being taken out by Laurent Blanc. He told Laurent what he thought. It brought a bit of atmosphere to the locker room.”he revealed on the DAZN set.
Five days later, during the quarter-final, the native of Clamart would remain on the bench, Laurent Blanc preferring Mathieu Debuchy on the right flank of the French attack then bringing in Jérémy Menez in his place.
