No revenge for the Blues. Dominated by Germany this summer in the quarter-finals of the Euro, the France team once again came up against this opponent in the semi-final of the Nations League.
Beaten 1-0 in the first leg in Dusseldorf, the Tricolores had to turn things around this Tuesday evening in Caen. It was off to a good start, since Melvine Malard quickly opened the scoring on a good cross from Selma Bacha (1-0, 3rd).
The advantage did not last long, because the Germans responded with a superb sequence from Nicole Anyomi, who found the top corner of Pauline Peyraud-Magnin (1-1, 12th). And the Blues then missed the boat at the end of the first period, with opportunities for Malard (32nd, 35th), and a goal refused to Delphine Cascarino (37th).
No final for the Blues
In the second half, the visitors regained the lead, thanks to a missile from Klara Bühl (1-2, 50th), and control of the match. After another goal refused for Anyomu (68th), the Blues woke up at the end of the match, with a miss from Kadidiatou Diani (84th) and the equalizer from another entrant, Clara Matéo (2-2, 89th).
In extended added time, Mateo had a 3-2 ball (90th+1), but Laurent Bonadei's players failed to find the fault one last time. There will therefore be no final against Spain in November, but a duel against Sweden for 3rd place.
