Former FC Barcelona player Dani Alves, retired in January 2023, had a terrible end to his career off the field. Accused in December 2022 of raping a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona, the former right-back was sentenced in February 2024 to 4 and a half years in prison. But after 14 months of detention, the footballer was finally acquitted, in March 2025, in exchange for a bail of one million euros.

Following this annulment of the conviction by the Spanish magistrates, due to “series of shortcomings, inaccuracies, inconsistencies and contradictions on the facts”Dani Alves was therefore able to concentrate on his reintegration. No return to the field planned, but rather a radical change of course for the former PSG defender.

“I made a pact with God”

In a video relayed by El Espanol on Xthe 42-year-old Brazilian was seen preaching in a church in Girona, Catalonia. The now neo-preacher appeared dressed in black, smiling, singing, even claiming to have
“made a pact with God” with the other faithful present. “ In the midst of turbulence, in the midst of the storm, there is always a messenger from God. And this messenger, at the worst moment of my life, picked me up, took me to the church for the journey, and today I am on the journey thanks to him,” can we hear on the video.
