While ASSE had just suffered a historic humiliation in Annecy (4-0), a much more devastating bomb exploded behind the scenes. An internationally recognized investigative journalist decided to unpack everything about the management of the club. His words are scathing, his accusations head-on, and his revelations have the effect of an earthquake on Geoffroy-Guichard. A ghost ASSE management which does not take care of the club
First accusation: Ivan Gazidis, the much-publicized president“is never there and doesn’t really take care of the club”. Molina claims that the real decision-maker, Huss Fahmy, lives in London and only travels sporadically to Saint-Étienne. An absence which says a lot about the real involvement of the owners in the Saint-Etienne project.
Even more serious, the journalist denounces “the ego of the new leaders, Huss Fahmy in the lead”, which would have become “a real problem”. These latter “think they know everything because they have known great clubs”adopting contemptuous behavior with partners and only responding to whom they want. This arrogance would partly explain the growing tensions around the club.
A catastrophic internal atmosphere
Molina then drops a sentence that sends shivers down the spine : “The internal atmosphere has been horrible for a while at all levels.” Management did not do the necessary housekeeping after the change in shareholding, allowing a harmful situation to fester.
Cherry on the cake: “Taking photos with the ultras, talking about young people, it’s good. But the reality is they don’t care.” Molina even accuses Gazidis of putting Larry Tanenbaum to sleep,i “seems visibly happy to lose tens of millions of euros for very average results”.
ASSE is going through much more than a sporting crisis.
