John Textor goes on and on. Removed from the management of OL at the end of the 2024-2025 season, when he had just begun the process of selling his shares in Crystal Palace, the American businessman is already turning to a new challenge in England.

According to The Athleticthe former Lyon president wishes to acquire Wolverhampton. An offer of 450 million euros has already been sent to the Chinese group Fosun, owner of the club. Textor particularly appreciates Wolves for their historic policy of recruiting Portuguese players, which would facilitate the arrival of players from Botafogo, of which he is also president.

This desire to return to England is not new. In his press release announcing his withdrawal from Lyon, he confirmed: “OL are in good hands with Michelle (Kang), and I will focus on Botafogo, Daring Brussels and our next club in England. » Several Championship clubs, such as Sheffield Wednesday, Watford, Charlton, Derby County and QPR, are also among his targets.

According to the American media, a takeover of an English D2 club would be more likely than a Premier League club like Wolverhampton, due to the lower cost. Especially since Textor currently finds itself in a financial impasse: Ares Management, its main lender, is demanding reimbursement of a large part of the sums advanced for its various operations. In mid-October, British justice also ordered him to pay 90 million dollars (77.3 million euros) to the American fund Iconic. To be continued.
