Eddie Howe chose sobriety to react to Arne Slot's comments. The Newcastle coach did not directly respond to criticism from the Liverpool manager, who suggested the Magpies were a “smaller club” and that the treatment meted out to Alexander Isak during the summer had affected his physical condition upon his arrival at the Reds. The Swedish player, who arrived for 143 million euros, is now suffering from a groin injury and will not be able to play for some time. Slot had pointed out that each club has different conditions in pre-season and that you cannot compare a player coming from a smaller club to adapting to Liverpool.

Howe preferred to defend his club and its facilities. “The system here is very good. It's not perfect, we have things to improve and develop. But the owners have developed the facilities very well since I have been here. You can see that there is currently work underway to hope to offer even better in the future. But I have no complaints. We have elite athletes here, lots of them, and, knock on wood, we're managing them pretty well at the moment.”he assured at a press conference. He also refused to get drawn into the controversy, recalling that Isak was no longer at the club and therefore had no place to comment on the criticism of his new coach.
