UEFA Index: Bad news for France

Except for PSG and OL, the days follow one another but are not the same for the French clubs in the European Cup. Before the international break, the representatives of Ligue 1 had indeed shone, compiling five victories for a draw and a defeat.

But this week was much less fruitful: the French clubs only won two meager victories. Like Paris SG, an impressive winner on the field of Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League (7-2), Olympique Lyonnais continued its flawless performance by dominating FC Bale in the Europa League (2-0).

For the rest, if Monaco and Strasbourg obtained the point of the draw, respectively against Tottenham in the Champions League and Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Europa Conference League, Marseille, Lille and Nice all lost. Defeats which do not do France's business in the UEFA index.

Portugal and the Netherlands are getting closer

Since the start of the season, France has in fact compiled 6,071 points, which allows it to count 71,248 points over the last five seasons. But behind, the Netherlands, who compiled four victories for two defeats, and Portugal, two victories for two defeats, got closer.

On the other hand, Belgium, which constitutes the biggest threat in the race for fifth place for next season, is running out of steam. Union Saint-Galloise and Bruges fell heavily in the Champions League against Inter Milan and Bayern Munich (4-0) and Genk had to settle for a draw against Betis (0-0) in the Europa League.
