At the end of the 2024-2025 season, marked by a historic quadruple (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Champions Trophy and Champions League) achieved with Paris Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi established himself as the reference for the right-back position. The Moroccan international was also rewarded with a 6th place in the Ballon d'Or rankings, making him the third highest ranked Parisian, behind Ousmane Dembélé, winner of this edition, and Vitinha, third.

But this new exercise promises to be even more demanding for the former Nerazzurro. In addition to all the competitions played with the Parisian club, Hakimi is also preparing to represent Morocco in the 2025 African Cup of Nations, organized in his country this winter. And this, without forgetting the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for next summer.

PSG has no plan B

Currently, PSG does not have a professional right-back to replace Hakimi. To anticipate the absence of its executive, the Parisian board had not closed the door to the idea of recruiting an understudy during the previous transfer window. But not at any price, as Laurent Perrin, journalist at
Parisian.

“We clearly saw this summer that Luis Enrique and Luis Campos do not take risks and that they only invest if they are sure of their move. I think that's why they didn't recruit a right back, they didn't find the rare gem, the player capable of blending into the team and who has the technical and mental profile to play in this position at PSG.”he explained during a chat with Internet users.

Luis Enrique could also choose to trust a young person from the training center, without ruling out the possibility of exploring the market. “They will continue their strategy with young people because it is part of the project. And what's more, it works. Which does not mean that they will not recruit a right back. »concluded Perrin.
