OM recorded their second defeat in the Champions League this season on Wednesday. While they led 0-1 against Sporting Portugal during the 3rd day thanks to a goal from Paixao and seemed to be in control of the match, Roberto De Zerbi's men ended up cracking after the expulsion of Emerson Palmieri at the end of the first period, losing 2-1.

This defeat seriously complicates the club's situation. According to Opta, the Phocaeans, currently 18th after three days, could finish 21st, which would force them to go through the play-offs. The rest promises to be complicated with the reception of Atalanta, Newcastle and Liverpool and the trips to Belgium to face Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge. Worse, OM would only have a 1.96% chance of reaching the round of 16.

For Monaco, the situation is even more delicate. The supercomputer places the Principality club in 25th place, synonymous with direct elimination. The Monegasques, who have just welcomed their new coach Pocognoli, are currently in 27th place after one defeat and two draws.

PSG ahead

For its part, PSG recorded a solid success by winning 7-2 against Leverkusen last Tuesday, which temporarily placed them at the top of the standings. But according to Opta, the Parisians would not retain this first place, which would ultimately go to Arsenal with 20 points against 19 for PSG.

The two clubs, French and English, have respectively a 24.62% and 33.79% chance of finishing at the top of the ranking. Mikel Arteta's Gunners, also flawless, emerge as the big favorites for this 2025-2026 edition. According to Opta, they have a 21.13% chance of lifting the Big Ears Cup, compared to only 14.03% for PSG, the reigning champion.
