Liverpool, the double blow

Liverpool won by a large score of 5-1 on the pitch of Eintracht Frankfurt this Wednesday in the Champions League. This result allows the Reds to regain confidence after four consecutive defeats, but also cost them two major elements of their squad.

Jeremie Frimpong, established as right-back in place of Conor Bradley, was forced to leave the pitch after 19 minutes, in tears. The Dutch international suffers from a hamstring injury, already responsible for his absence during the Premier League matches against Newcastle (3-2) and Arsenal (1-0) in August.

“It wasn’t the right balance for us”

The second bad news concerns Alexander Isak. The most expensive recruit in the history of the club, Arne Slot had chosen to line up in attack alongside Hugo Ekitike for this meeting. Finally, the Swedish striker had to give way to Federico Chiesa at half-time, suffering from groin pain.

“We hope it’s not serious”declared the Dutch coach at a press conference.
“A lot of people told me they wanted me to play him more, we had to find the balance. But unfortunately it wasn't the right balance for us. »

As a reminder, the former Magpie did not participate in the pre-season due to his standoff with Newcastle United this summer, which led to his departure for the Mersey club. The Reds will therefore have to wait a little longer before seeing their new number 9 in full possession of his means.
