Lille and Nice disappoint

Find the results of matches of French clubs counting for the regular phase of the Europa League, this Thursday evening.

The weeks follow one another and are not the same for French football. After the great series of victories a fortnight ago, the representatives of Ligue 1 showed a more timid face for their return to business on the European scene this Thursday evening.

The day started well with Lyon's respective victories against Basel in the Europa League (2-0). It took a more delicate turn in the second part of the evening since Lille and Nice got their feet wet.

Opposed to PAOK Salonika, LOSC fell into the trap of a well-established opponent in the European Cup. Bruno Genesio's men missed the opportunity to score a third success in three games, the result of a defense that was far too porous (3-4). André and Igamane had sounded the revolt after a catastrophic first period where the visitors led 0-3, but that was not enough.

Nice still can't do it

For its part, Nice had an answer to give after a series of 14 consecutive matches without the slightest victory on the European scene. It’s (again) a failure. The Aiglons did not have the necessary ingredients to avoid returning frustrated from their trip to Vigo.

Cho had responded well to Aspas, but Clauss left his teammates outnumbered in the first period, and Nice ended up cracking a quarter of an hour from the end (1-2). A new disillusionment for a club which never ceases to disappoint in the European Cup.
