After his coach Xabi Alonso a few days ago, it was Dani Carvajal's turn to firmly oppose the holding of the Villarreal-Barcelona match in Miami, scheduled for December 20 as part of the 17th day of LaLiga. In comments relayed by Teledeportethe right-back explained that this move constitutes an attack on the fairness of the competition, while insisting on the importance of guaranteeing the same playing conditions for all clubs.
“This seems to me to be a very clear alteration of the competition, which prevents all LaLiga clubs from competing under the same conditions. I think it is fundamental that we are fair — the players, the clubs and the League itself. You have to stand for something fair, and I don't think that's the case here.”Carvajal said. This controversial decision also prompted players to take a short break at the start of the match this weekend, as part of an action coordinated by the AFE union to denounce LaLiga's lack of transparency and dialogue on this subject. On Monday, the AFE also asked LaLiga to bring forward a meeting initially scheduled for December 24, in order to more quickly address the issue of the match being relocated to the United States.
