Zinédine Zidane at the heart of a big controversy

A living legend of French and global football, Zinédine Zidane always sparks passions. The former number 10 of the French team was in Geneva this Saturday to participate as an exceptional guest in the Multiverse Swiss Expo 2025. But the presence of the world champion at this festival dedicated to pop-culture turned sour. At least for the many fans who came to meet him.

“Zizou” did not give up and honored this event with his presence by participating in a match against the players of Servette FC Chênois. He then had to follow up with a signing session, then an exchange with the public in the form of questions and answers. But as local media 24 Heures reported on Sunday, this was not the case. Only a few lucky people were entitled to his signature. And again… Just before the match and not at all during a time specially planned for this.

No Zinédine Zidane on stage to interact with the public. And therefore no signing session as the organizers had promised and highlighted when tickets were sold. The Swiss media reported the anger expressed by many participants, like this mother: “They lied to us. Schedules are not respected, commitments are not kept. »

A VIP pass so you don't see Zidane

Buying VIP passes obviously didn't help. For example, 1,300 euros were spent by this father who came with his two sons. Faced with a completely overwhelmed organization, they did not have access to the private room and did not meet “Zizou”. Quoted by 24 Heures, the person responsible for the event tried to calm things down by ensuring that “Zidane will return later today to give a talk and sign autographs”. It won't.

Several dozen complaints have been filed. If Zinédine Zidane obviously has nothing to do with it, the organizers of the event will have to review their plans if they plan to repeat this type of event. The hundreds of disappointed people this year should in any case not return.
