Called up to the Algerian national team somewhat to everyone's surprise, Luca Zidane, the goalkeeper son of French football legend Zinédine Zidane, has a card to play with the Greens. The 27-year-old made his debut against Uganda last Tuesday in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, and now competes with Alexis Guendouz for the number one spot at the next CAN which begins on December 21 in Morocco.
Luca Zidane failed to establish himself in La Liga when he played in the elite with Rayo Vallecano in 2021-2022, but he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Spanish second division with Granada. He resumed Friday with his club with another remarkable performance, against Andorra (0-0), with a nice save.

His little brother Théo, 23, also plays in Liga 2, in another Andalusian club, namely Cordoba, but the relay midfielder shines much less. Number 7 in the back, the former Castilla player (Real Madrid's reserve team) was mentioned among the best midfielders in D2 last year. He has scored five goals and given one assist in 36 league matches.

However, the Cordoba team was not involved in the race for the playoffs last spring and, since then, Théo has lost his starting place. The midfielder had a good chance against Almeria (1-1), missing the opportunity to win his team, but he was a substitute again, coming on in the 61st minute of play. He even remained on the bench two weeks ago against Zaragoza. His counter does not show any decisive action in eight appearances.
Cordoba is 12th in the standings after 10 days while Granada, Luca's club, is off to a bad start to the year with only two victories for a 19th place in Liga 2 (first relegation). The first Granada-Cordoba is scheduled for November 23. The Zidane parents may be in the stands at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.
