The sadly historic 7th day of Serie A

The last day of Serie A entered the history of Italian football with an unprecedented record: only 11 goals scored in 10 matches. Never before has the Italian championship experienced such an offensive shortage. The 1-1 draw between Cremonese and Udinese, played on Monday evening, confirmed this sad record. To avoid this historic mark, at least four goals would have been necessary during this meeting. This particularly barren day was also marked by four goalless matches.

So far, the lowest single-day goal total in Serie A was 13, reached four times: in the 2004/2005, 2010/2011, 2017/2018 and 2022/2023 seasons. But the bar had never been lowered. This new record highlights a Serie A weekend marked by caution, solid defenses and a general lack of offensive inspiration.
