The Girondins de Bordeaux also weighed down by Barça

The Girondins de Bordeaux have lost their footing since the last place which came to sanction their 2021-2022 season in Ligue 1. After narrowly escaping administrative demotion to the National that summer, the FCGB finally continued its descent into hell. Inexorably. Up to playing in National 2, this season for the second year in a row.

At the same time, the scapular club avoided bankruptcy at the last minute while the Spanish-Luxembourgish businessman Gérard Lopez did not wish to hand over the reins. Still in debt at this time and unable to repay their creditors, the Girondins were able to benefit from a continuation plan validated last June by the Bordeaux commercial court, with repayment of their slate – seriously scraped – spread over ten years.

A debt that has been running for more than three years

Under these conditions, FC Barcelona's liabilities towards FCGB appear all the more revolting. Certainly minimal, the Catalan club's debt, limited to 359,000 euros, has nevertheless been running since 2022 and the transfer of former Bordeaux defender Jules Koundé from Seville to Barcelona. Precisely the summer when everything changed for the Marine et Blanc club.

This Monday, Marca indicates that the total sum of Blaugrana unpaid transfers currently stands at 159 million euros. Including 78 million in arrears accumulated over previous years. In addition to FCGB, Brède FC, another club from the Bordeaux region which plays in Regional 2, is still waiting for 80,000 euros from Barça in the Koundé case for training compensation. Stade Rennais is also affected, to the tune of 32,000 euros, since Raphinha's move from Leeds to Barcelona.
