At the end of the eighth day of Ligue 1, Olympique de Marseille is alone in control of the ranking. The big victory against Le Havre (6-2) last Saturday allowed the Marseille club to overtake Paris Saint-Germain.
In many debates concerning football, the question now arises: will Roberto De Zerbi's men manage to be crowned champion of France at the end of the season?
According to LoĂŻc Tanzi, the chances are slim but they exist.
“Marseille and PSG will only face each other once in the league. There are three points at stake between the two. OM players must tell themselves every time they enter the pitch in Ligue 1 that they are playing for the title”explained the sports journalist on Lhe L’Équipe channel.
OM, fifteen years of drought in Ligue 1
Regularity will be a determining factor. “What does playing for the title mean? Win all matches against smaller teams. This is how Marseille will manage to be champion”continues Loïc Tanzi, knowing that Leonardo Balerdi and his teammates will travel to Lens the next day.
As a reminder, OM have not won Ligue 1 since the 2009-2010 financial year. Didier Deschamps was then the coach and PSG was not yet under the Qatari flag.
