Sean Dyche has given his verbal approval to become Nottingham Forest's new manager. According to Sky Sportsnegotiations accelerated on Sunday evening, with both parties wanting to conclude quickly so that the English technician can prepare the team before the Europa League match against Porto on Thursday. Although the contract has not yet been signed, formalization could take place as early as this Monday. A former player trained at Forest, Dyche was one of the candidates considered by owner Evangelos Marinakis to succeed Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked on Saturday after only 39 days at the helm of the team.

The Greek leader had also considered the profiles of Roberto Mancini, who refused the position, and Marco Silva, whom he has admired since the latter's time at Olympiacos. However, the financial constraints linked to the profitability rules of the Premier League (Profit and Sustainability Rules) limit the possibilities of the club, already weakened by the compensation paid to Nuno Espirito Santo and now to Postecoglou. Still according to the British media, hiring Dyche, free from any contract since his departure from Everton in January 2025, would allow Forest to limit costs, while the club is preparing to appoint its third coach in just eight days of the championship.
