The Superior Sports Council (CSD) officially filed a complaint this Monday against Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, for “very serious violations”according to the daily A.S.. This action follows a denunciation made last August by Miguel Ángel Galán, president of the Transparency and Democracy in Sport Association, and supported by 18 members of FC Barcelona. The dispute arises from an information note published in April by LaLiga, revealing confidential financial data from the Catalan club linked to the VIP boxes at the new Camp Nou. The complainants consider that this disclosure violates the duty of confidentiality provided for in article 5 of the LaLiga budget preparation regulations as well as article 76.2 of the Sports Law, which qualifies this type of breach as“very serious offense”.

The Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) must now determine whether there is sufficient evidence to open disciplinary proceedings against Tebas, who risks sanctions ranging from a simple reprimand to dismissal from office. This affair is part of an already tense climate between LaLiga and FC Barcelona, against a backdrop of quarrels around financial fair play and the Olmo affair. Last April, LaLiga accused Barça of having failed to record 100 million euros from the sale of 475 VIP boxes, before withdrawing its press release under pressure from the club. Barcelona, for its part, criticizes Tebas for publicly exposing sensitive internal information, worsening an already weakened institutional relationship between the two entities.
