The sporting director of FC Barcelona, Deco, spoke about the expulsion of Hansi Flick during the Catalan derby against Girona (Blaugrana 2-1 victory). The former Portuguese international confirmed that the club would appeal the decision, while downplaying the seriousness of the German technician's gesture and pointing out a difference in treatment on the part of the Spanish referees.
“The coach said he didn’t insult anyone. We will obviously appeal the expulsion. The referees are always stricter with us, they go much further. Winning with Barça is always more complicated, but it brings more satisfaction. We struggle with a lot of things. It won't be an excuse, whatever the result against Real Madrid. There are very severe decisions against us. We will do what is necessary legally”declared Deco in comments relayed by the Cadena SER. The Barça coach received two yellow cards in quick succession for having protested too vigorously against the only four minutes of added time granted by the referee, at a time when the two teams were still tied.
