Real Madrid won in Getafe this Sunday during the 9th day of La Liga thanks to Kylian Mbappé, author of the only goal of the match (80th). The French star, starting alongside Rodrygo and Bellingham, made the difference for the Merengue, while Vinicius started on the bench. The Madrilenians struggled for a long time against the Azulones' low block, struggling to create real chances in the first act.
The first minutes were punctuated by the intensity imposed by Getafe, Aurélien Tchouaméni being the victim of a rough intervention from the 5th minute. Real's attempts multiplied, but Soria repelled all the strikes, notably those from Mbappé and Tchouaméni. For its part, Getafe almost surprised Courtois on a volley from Alex Sancris (39th).
Returning from the locker room, Real increased the pressure. Bellingham increased the transmissions towards Mbappé, who narrowly missed the opener with a powerful strike (66th). The number 10 also distinguished himself with a free kick (73rd) but the ball was deflected by Militao, remaining without effect. Despite more balanced possession on the Getafe side, the Merengue retained the initiative.
Red card and decisive goal
The turning point came in the 77th minute: Nyom, who had just come on for Getafe, received a direct red card for a foul on Vinicius, giving Real Madrid a crucial numerical advantage. Three minutes later, Mbappé released his team by taking a serve from Arda Güler, replacing Camavinga, scoring the winning goal for Xabi Alonso's men.
Despite a second red card (Sancris 84′) and a numerical disadvantage, Getafe has not said its last word. In stoppage time, in the 90+7th minute, Kamara almost equalized with an excellent cross from the left. Well hampered by Courtois' impeccable exit, the new arrival failed to deflect the ball into the goal.
This victory allows Real Madrid to regain the lead in the championship with 24 points, two lengths behind FC Barcelona, a week before the Clasico. The Merengue club thus confirms its current form and is banking on Mbappé to continue its series of successes in La Liga.
