Revealed at a very young age at Feyenoord before joining Real Madrid in 2007, Drenthe had a career as brilliant as it was unstable, marked by spells in England (Everton, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday) and Spain (Hércules Alicante). Retrained in recent years, he officially retired from sports in 2023, before joining FC De Rebellen, a team made up of former glories of Dutch football. An endearing and sometimes unpredictable personality, Drenthe remained a popular figure in Batavian football, appreciated for his frankness and his atypical career.
