Olympique Lyonnais traveled to the den of OGC Nice, at the Allianz Riviera, this Saturday late in the afternoon, for the 8th day of Ligue 1. The Aiglons only needed five minutes to plant their banderillas. During Nice's first offensive, Sofiane Diop raced down the right flank before delivering a perfect cross to the far post, caught by Melvin Bard with a left-footed strike (1-0).

The visitors then equalized thanks to Pavel Šulc. Les Gones found the fault in the Nice defense on a deflected corner and headed by the Czech midfielder (1-1, 30th). However, the Azuréens were quick to regain the advantage. On a new cross from the right flank, Jonathan Clauss found Jérémie Boga's head. The ball then flirted with the line before Diop finished from close range from a tight angle (2-1, 35th).

Lyon saves honor too late

In the second half, Frank Haise's gang widened the gap before the hour mark. After a penalty saved by Yehvann Diouf, Nice attacked again, once again exploiting the right wing. Clauss, still on the move, served Hicham Boudaoui on the outskirts of the penalty area, and the latter completed the action with a shot which slipped into the small left net (3-1, 59th).

Les Gones, however, reduced the score in added time. As in the first period, Sulc found the net with an uncrossed header, this time from a cross from the right (3-2, 90ᵉ+6). Lyon remains in 4th place for the moment, but remains threatened by Monaco and Lens, just two lengths behind. For its part, Nice moved up to 8th position in the ranking.
