Liga: Villarreal held to the wire by Real Bétis thanks to a double from Antony

After the victory snatched by FC Barcelona against Girona, the 9th day of La Liga continued with a promising display between Villarreal, third, and Real Betis, fourth. A clash at the top between two candidates in the race for Europe which turned in favor of the yellow submarine in the first period thanks to a goal from Canadian Tajon Buchaman in the 44th minute (1-0), despite a clear domination of Real Bétis.

In the second half, the best player at the start of the season on the Villarreal side, Nicolas Pépé, came on, and a minute later, Moleiro scored the break goal (2-0, 64th). But former Manchester United player Antony reduced the deficit by scoring his first La Liga goal this season. Real Bétis pushed until the end, and managed to equalize in the 90+4th thanks to a double from Antony. Defeated by Real Madrid before the international break (3-1), Villarreal failed to react this evening. Without Mikautadze, who remained on the bench, but with the former Parisian Arnau Tenas in the cage, Marcelino's men were hooked. In the standings, Villarreal remains in 3rd place, while the Verdiblancos are camped just behind, 4th.
